PORCELAIN TEAPOT WITH INDIAN FLOWERS.
Meissen. 18th century.
Porcelain; decorated in colours and gold. Spout with metal mounting and lid chain. Spherical body on circular stand with vertical handle. Attaches to body in applied
rosettes. The three-edged nozzle slightly tapering and with hinged cover. On the side
large branches with partly gold-heightened peonies and rock formations. The lid with
spherical finial decorated accordingly and on the top side of the handle additional
peonies in iron-red. Height 17cm.
No marks visible. Condition B.

Collection Franz Monheim; Aken (1891-1969); in the family until today through inheritance.

The model of the teapot originates from a Chinese type and was already mentioned in
B鰐tgersteinzeug in 1711 (Triumph; 2010; p.265). This teapot-type is also known from
Vienna (Fired by Passion; 2009).
One Meissen teapot of this model from the collection Britzke shows a very comparable
flower decor and likewise an according ornamental rim of the lid opening on the top side
with lattice work (Meissener Porzellan; 2009).
