Ceramic with coloured decor painted under glaze. Figure of a young dancer on trefoiled plinth. Holding wide; oriental style skirt by her sides with raised hands. At the rear of the plinth two baskets with rose petals. Height 53cm; width 36cm.
Embossed 3992 (model-no.); 287; 10. Manufactory mark stamped in black ; Made in Austria; hand - decorated. Further signets in black. Condition A.

The American dancer and choreographer Ruth St. Denis is shown here in her first own
choreography the 'Radha'. She presented the piece 'Radha; Dance of the five senses' for
the first time in January 1906 in New York. In the same year she guested in various
European cities and inspired not only Auguste Rodin; but also Hugo von Hofmannsthal in
Vienna; who published the essay 'Die unvergleichliche T鋘zerin' (The Unforgettable Dancer)
