SMALL TRIAD VOTIVE FIGURE OF SHIVA AND A PAIR OF PALANQUIN HOOKS WITH GARUDA.
Origin: Khmer.
Dynasty: Angkor Wat period (1100-1175) or later.
Technique: Bronze with green and partly powdery patina.
Description: a) Shiva holding a Trisula and flanked by Parvati and Skanda. The cast with a hollow back
is found on some rare early eleven-century Angkor Wat period sculptures. Small bronze
triads were particularly popular and associated with individual worship. H.15cm. b) The
central part of the hook shaped as a winged garuda with a high leafy crown and the body
tapering into a long curved snake-like tail forming the hook. The two hooks are very
similar and probably formed a pair at the beginning. Each h.19cm; w.12cm. On a metal frame.
