LARGE SAKE KETTLE (CH許HI) WITH LACQUERED LID.

Origin: Japan.
Dynasty: Edo period (1603-1868).
Technique: Cast iron with black patina. Handle from bronze. Lid from wood; lacquered black painted with gold.
Description: The body is slightly conical; slightly rounded at the bottom. Wall decorated with three
horizontal; finely grooved strips. Three small knobbed feet. The handle is hollow and
firmly mounted; in relief with grass and basket pattern. The lid decorated with
bellflowers and Suzuki grass; a crossbar as handle.
Measurement: H. 12.8cm; with handle 24cm.
