Kanton lacquer; gold in several tones on black. 34 square and 33 round jetons; one mounted as pendant. Height 10cm; 29.5x26cm. With monogramm. Supplement: Hand written notice about the provenance.

Condition:
Traces of age and use.
A little bit rubbbed.
Smaller spallings at the lid and underneath the box.
Inside the lid a few lacquer bubbles.
Otherwise in good condition.

Provenance:
Collection Andreas Samuel Merklein (1798-1837); doctor in Surbaja; Java. Since then owned
by the family.
