IMPRESSIVE LARGE FIGURE OF A SITTING LAMA.
Tibet. 19th c.

Copper in repouss? multi-part. Garment borders finely engraved; fire gilt and painted with gold. Sitting on a high lotus pedestal in padmasana; the right hand raised in the gesture of
teaching and discussion (vitarka mudra); the left rests in avakasha mudra in the lap. The
youthful face with fine facial features. A light smile on the lips and the eyes with
serene; downward directed gaze. The borders and hems of his kasaya robes are decorated
with flowers; tendrils and clouds. Weight 2049g; height 39.5cm.

Condition:
Traces of age and use.
Gold slightly rubbed and all over some fine scratches on the surface.
On the face gold and pigments a bit rubbed.
At the back of the head a small repair maybe from casting imperfection. Further; two small
dents and one scratch.
At the right wrist a small dent and fine crack.
Otherwise good condition.
