Bonaventura CAVALIERI (1598 - 30 November 1647); member of the clerical congregation of the Gesuati; Italian mathematician and academic; creator of cavalier axonometry and of the principle that bears his name; immortalized with a stylus in his hand; while observing and studying a sphere; the subject of one of his treatises. Marble sculpture by Giovanni Antonio Labus (9 July 1806 - 15 October 1857); erected on the occasion of the "VI Meeting of Italian Scientists" in the courtyard of honor of the Brera Palace (restored 2015); Milan; 1844.
