SUBMARINE TUNNEL Plan of the tunnel that was to connect Douvres to Sangatte passing under the English Channel; according to the project presented in the early twentieth century by the French engineer Albert Sartiaux (23 July 1845 - 10 October 1921) with the British colleague Francis Fox ( June 29; 1844 - January 7; 1927); the important project aimed to create a railway connection between the United Kingdom and France by electric traction trains; so as not to compromise the quality of the air in the underground duct but also because traffic control could remain at the surface power stations; for similar tactical defense reasons; access would have taken place via viaducts; which would have offered passengers an unforgettable panorama with the advantage of being able to be quickly shot down in case of danger of invasion by an enemy.
