Mating of the payload module to the service module of the Euclid near-infrared space telescope in Thales Alenia Space, Turin, Italy . The Euclid satellite is a part of the European Space Agency's (ESA) Cosmic Vision programme and is expected to launch in 2023. It will map the geometry of dark matter in the universe. Dark matter is a hypothesised type of matter that would account for gravitational forces in the universe that have no apparent origin.
