"Mr. Elmhurst" Leaves England: Last man in a line at London Airport yesterday ... The Sunday Express catches a picture of one of Britain's best protected Rush-Hush celebrities - Mr. Elmhurst. That is the name atom scientist Sir William Penney - Ministry of Supply Chief Superintendent of Armament Research - is using on a flight to Australia for the Big Bangs at Woomers. Members of his family were there to see him off. He was hurried through the customs; sat for several minutes in a private lounge. Before boarding the airliner he said: "I expect to be back some time in November." There was a 40 minute delay - caused by the jamming of a mailbag in loading. Mr. Elmhurst stayed on board. September 20, 1953. (Photo by Sunday Express).
