Prices Cut in Russia - The earliest buyers at a food store in Gorky street, Moscow. Sales were stepped up in Russian stores early this month (April) as the sixth price cut to be made since 1947 came into effect. Food prices were lowered by:- 15 percent (meat and all meat foods); 10 percent (eggs, fish fats, bread); 20 percent (tea, coffee, and cocoa); and 10 percent (confectionary and sugar).
