U.S. President Roosevelt As A Baby In The Arms Of His Mother. The late Mrs Sara Delano Roosevelt holds her three-months old son, Franklin D. in her arms in March, 1882. The President's mother died on September 7, 1941; President Roosevelt, at the age of three, went abroad for the first time. As a boy he learned to ride, shoot swim; play polo and tennis and sail boats. President Roosevelt has been re-nominated by the Democratic Party to oppose Governor Thomas E.
