Garment Workers Go On Strike -- Striking members of the AFL International Ladies Garment Workers Union fill Seventh Avenue at 38th Street here today. Although there were no picket lines the striking workers idled in the garment district. It was the first big strike in the city's biggest industry in 25 years. The strike, called yesterday to begin this morning, grew out of a dispute over two clauses in a new contract agreed on last week. June 12, 1951. (Photo by AP Wirephoto).
