The first contingent from Australia in England: Arrival of Imperial Reservists. The interesting photograph shows the first batch of soldiers to arrive it. England from Australia for service Kitchener's Army. No particulars of the contingent were given in the Australian press at the time of departure; ***** there being no longer any occasion for secrecy in the matter, it may now be stated that about 1000 Imperial reservists, drawn from all parts of Australia, sailed in the Miltiades, under the charge of Major G.T. Griffiths, of New South Wales Light Horse, and landed at Plymouth on Saturday, December 19. In the picture we see the scene on deck when the steamer arrived alongside the pair. May 1, 1933.
