A friendship which began 30 years ago, had a happy climax at Nuneaton Registry Office during the week-end, when two old age pensioners were married. The happy couple were 75 year old Mr. George Cook, of Stockingford, and Mrs. Lilian Spencer, of Cornwall, who is 83 years old. The bridegroom is a native of Oxfordshire, but came to Nuneaton over 50 years ago. He was a miner for many years until incapacitated by an accident. He has six children living, many grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Spencer has been a widoe for two years and came to Stockingford for a holiday a month ago, and they suddenly agreed to make a match of it. June 10, 1947. (Photo by Foxphotos).
