Governor General Inspects Canada's First International Trade Fair - The Canadian International Trade Fair, first to be held in North America, was opened by Viscount Alexander of Tunis, Canada's Governor General, in Toronto, on Saturday May 29th. He is shown above as he inspects the Portuguese wine Board's exhibit during his tour of the 1800 exhibits from 32 countries. Miss Elsie Allen, of Lisbon, Portugal, is the smiling attendant of the boot. Hon. James A. Mackinnon, a Canadian Cabinet Minister, is shown at the right. Buyers from 60 countries are attending the fair, which is to be held again in 1949. July 13, 1948.
