The pattern is the same in every corner and almost symmetrical. It consists of four violets; surrounded by forget-me-nots and vine leaves and berries. Along the outside of the batist runs an openwork decorative band with needle lace stitches between embroidered maple leaves. The edging strip has a repeating pattern of a mousse with an obliquely hanging three-part leaf on a curved stem. The motifs are made in linen with openwork edges and cut-outs like leaf veins. The motifs are connected by a lattice ground: a square Valenciennes ground.
