Threats were important: Raimond Trencavel; a refugee in Aragon; was still trying to take back his lands and the City was part of the defense system of the border between France and Aragon. In 1240; Raimond Trencavel tried to besiege the City; but was soon forced to flee in front of the arrival of reinforcements troups from King Louis IX.
