Needle case to commemorate the battle on the Dogger Bank; The round; tapered case has a screw-on cap with a protruding octagonal top that serves as a seal. It is completely processed in stamping technique. The wall of the cap is decorated with a circling representation of two sailing ships; representing the Battle of Doggersbank. The part below is decorated with the bust of the schout-by-night Arnold Zoutman; above which the name Zoutman. Beneath each medallion is a trophy of an anchor; a halberd; a bundle of arrows; flags; cannons and cannonballs on roughened ground. Two garlands hang from this. A sailing ship is shown below. The stamp is engraved with a palm tree accompanied by the letters E (top) C (bottom left) VAL together (bottom right) in a round crowned shield inside a cartouche.
