Decorated in underglaze blue; with a checkered pattern on the foot; on the belly three peonies and two butterflies; on the edge on the right a portrait of a man (Willem IV); bust in profile to the left; wearing the Order of the Garter; in cartouche with blue background. Inscription: W: C: H: F Called for Stadholder den 3 bloeijmaant Ao 1747; Willem IV (Prince of Orange-Nassau); anonymous (attributed to); Delft; 1747; vitrification; h 13.5 cm x w 12.2 cm x d 8 cm; VOC; and so had the right connections to order lacquerware in Japan.
