RAM DARBAR - RAMA HOLDING COURT WITH ENTOURAGE.

South India; prob. Andhra Pradesh or Karnataka. 18th/19th c. Copper bronze with dark patina. Figures and mandorla cast separately. In the center sits Rama; an incarnation of Vishnu with his companion Sita on his lap. He is accompanied by his half-brother Lakshmana and a female deity with lotus blossom. Possibly one or both side figures are added. The mandorla (prabhavali) with Makara; the face of Kiritimukha and the heads of the Naga over the main figure. Weight 4.52kg; height 25.7cm; width 18.8cm; depth 12.5cm. Condition A/B.Art trade; Van Ham.
