EGGER-LIENZ; ALBIN
1868 Striebach (Linz) - 1925 Rencio (Bolzano)

Gifts of Love (in 2500 meters height). Gouache on black pencil on card. 44 x 60;7cm. Signed lower left: Egger Lienz. Framed.

Provenance:
According to the current owner; directly acquired from the artist by his family

In the summer of 1915; Egger-Lienz created a whole range of drafts illustrations for the Tyrolean Soldiers' Magazine as well as for postcards. The resulting printed matter were published by the Red Cross; the Kriegshilfsb黵o; the Tyrolean Standsch黷zen and the Kriegsf黵sorgeamt. Egger-Lienz later handed his drafts; mostly large-size gouaches; over to the Kriegsf黵sorge to be sold by them. He also donated the revenue for the sheets he sold himself. The "Gifts of Love in 2500m Height" most certainly belong to this oeuvre. At exactly the same time Egger-Lienz set off for a voyage to the Dolomite front. Almost all of his works were created in his studio in St. Justina in Rencio near Bolzano. However the depictions of his work were always drawn from reality.

The exhibtion "TOTENTANZ" - Egger-Lienz und der Krieg" in the Museum Schloss Bruck; Lienz; June to October 2014 will discusss the theme of his work. The museum has made a request for a loan.Art trade; Van Ham.
