The painter Shen Ji was active for the so-called Ruyi Guan-Atelier; which worked for the imperial court. He comes from the Shen family from which several members; among others the famous Shen Zhenlin worked for this atelier; which presumably existed from 1840 to 1911. The exact biographical data of the artist who; like most of his colleagues did not have success as an individual artist; could not yet be detected.Art trade; Van Ham.
