NETSUKE: GRAZING HORSE; IVORY
Early 19th Century.

Standing horse with strong mane and a long tail; its head bowed for grazing. Between its hooves there is a flat gourd shape; which documents that the depicted is Chokaro's hack on a day release. Delicately carved and polished; delicately engraved and darkly coloured details; the eyes inlaid in black horn. W. 3;5 cm. Condition A. Beautiful; shiny; partly gold-yellow patina.
