ELEGANT CENSER ON HIGH BASE. BRONZE.
Qing Dynasty; Qianlong period or later; 18th century.
Brass-coloured bronze partly with dark patina; the lid pierced. The small censer with sixfold curved body standing on three high feet on a seperate; double lotus base. The six cartouche on the body and respectively lid with birds and flowers; on the lid in open work for the incense. Lid handle in the shape of a lion; the handles in the shape of lion heads. The angular lip with leiwen border on the outside. Around the middle of the base in the style for Buddhist figures moulds for semiprecious stones. Under the censer a four character mark: Qianlong nian zao. Height 16.5cm; ?11cm Condition A/B. The rim of the lid bent on the inside. At the bottom of the censer two small casting imperfections. Rings of the two lion head handles are missing.Art trade; Van Ham.
