IMPORTANT KAPALA OF A LAMA WITH SILBER SETTING.

Human bone; silver; white metal; coral; turquoise and other semi-precious stones. The kapala consists of the skullcap of a high-rank lama. It was carved in low relief with a - quite unusually - left-turning swastika and the syllables omani padma hum. On the right and left of the sagittal suture; evidence of the Phowa-ritual; can be found. Silver-plated inside with silver border with the Eight Buddhist treasures. The base (tib. ch鰊gung) and cover later manufactured using white metal. In total height 28cm; length 19cm; width 15cm; height 5;5cm. Condition A/B.
