BUDDHIST WISDOM GODESS PRAJNAPARAMITA. BRONZE.
Khmer. Bayon period (1180-1230). 12th/13th c.
Bronze with dark and green patina and residue of fire gilding. The standing goddess with scull crown; high and pointed hairstyle is wearing long ear rings and jewels around her neck; arms and feet. In her hands she holds a lotus and a book.
Today the experts assume that gilded Khmer bronze originate from the royal atelier of Jayavarman VII. Height 21;5cm. Condition A/B. Supplement: In a separate base plate.
