KORO INCENSE BURNER IN THE SHAPE OF A HAWK. BRONZE.
Japan. Meiji-period.
Bronze with patina. The bird of prey standing on a tree stump with his right foot; turning his head backwards. The left leg stretched forward with claws extended; ready to catch a small songbird trying to escape. On the back a part of the hawk's plumage removable; moreover under mounted feathers openings which allows the smoke to escape. The hawk separately manufactured and inserted. Height 51;5cm; width 40cm. Condition A/B.
