NETSUKE: SQUIRREL WITH BRANCH OF BIWA-FRUITS.
Japan. Edo Period. About 1800.
Ivory and dark horn with finely engraved and slightly coloured details. The eyes of the animal inlaid with black horn. Beautiful; partly golden-yellow natural patina. The squirrel with its long; bushy tail squats upon a slightly rotting biwa-leaf next to three large fruits. L.6.1cm. Condition A.
