NETSUKE: LAYING OX WITH YOUNG.
Japan. Edo Period. Ca. 18th century.
Ivory; finely carved and engraved ;partly darkly stained fur; the eyes made of dark wood. The calf is laying convoluted in unusual position next to the left front leg of the father.
L. 5;8 cm. Sign.: Yoshitada; on rectangular reverse; little-known artist from the area of Tomotada. Condition A/B. The left ear of the ox is restored.
