Japan. Edo Period. Early 19th century.

Ivory; metal; lacquer. Round. Both animals in detailed semi-relief on a convex plate. Finely carved and engraved. In annulet shakud?frame with gilded flower frieze with leaf vines in the middle. On the wide sides made of ivory; each a sitting monkey resp. tiger; the corresponding j鹡ishi. A metal link chain; decorated with shipp?pattern of gold-nunome. The last link is showing a ivory relief with a moonrabbit stamping Mochi. On the reverse flying sparrows with amber-colored patina. In the style of the animals from the Ky魌o-school. ?3;5cm. Condition A.
