NETSUKE: THE IMMORTAL; ONE-HORN IKKAKU.
Japan. Edo period.

Boxwood with rests of a formerly almost complete; black lacquer. Ikkaku standing in vivid position on one foot; carrying his elegantly dressed wife Sendaramo on his back. He owes his loss of immortality to his weakness for the fair sex; which may be the reason for his grim expression. H.11.2cm. Condition A/B. One shoe and the tip of the second shoe replaced.
