THE BUDDHIST GUARDIAN WEI TUO.
China. Ming Dynasty. 17th c.

Detailed and fine bronze with dark patina and residue of gilding. According to his duty as one of the Eight Guardians of the Buddhist doctrine he is wearing an armor in the rank of a general. His helmet is decorated with a moon-disk with clouds. On a separate base in the shape of stylized rocks.

As Bodhisattva Skanda he is assigned to Guanyin. Weight 3989g; Total height 38cm. Condition A/B.
