Porcelain plate; painted with overglaze colors. The famous poet and calligrapher (303-361) of the Jin Dynasty is stroking his beard and watches a boy feeding the geese. He is observing how the geese are moving their necks as inspiration for movements of his wrist while calligraphing. Part of a poem of Li Bai as inscription. 31 x 21cm. Sign.: Liu Xiren (1906-67).
