SHYAMA TARA.
Tibet. 18th/19th c.

Copper bronze with fire-gilding; pigments and inlaid stones. The female bodhisattva; although known as the 'Green Liberator'; has set her right foot on a separate lotus flower as the sign that she is ready for acting. The finely worked figure has many inlaid stones and the gold pigment painting on her face is preserved. Several places are rubbed from cultic touching. The stalks of the lotus flowers worked separately (right one missing).

Base presumably originally closed; base plate formerly gilt. Weight 1156g; heigth 18.6cm; width 13.5cm; depth 10.5cm. Condition A/B.
