Japan. Meiji period.
Ivory with finely engraved details; robe and fan browned. The god of luck happily laughing; rubbing his big belly with his right hand. He has a knotted wooden staff tucked under his arm; from which his big bag and gunpai-uchiwa (fans) are hanging. H. 10.7cm; W. 7.5cm. Sh鹓etsu (autumn moon) in red lacquer reserve. Condition A/B. Age cracks.
