Italy; Tuscany; Florence; Ognissanti Church (San Salvatore di Ognissanti): frescoe "Saint Augustine in His Study" (detail with open book) of 1480; realized by Sandro Botticelli (1445 - 1510); Renaisance artist Sandro Botticelli is also named Alessandro di Mariano Filipepi or Sandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi; called Botticelli. He realized the frescoe (Italian: "Sant`Agostino nello studio") 1480 strongly impressed by painter Andrea del Castagno. A curious detail is the open book right hand above the head of Saint Augustine. The letters are not readable aside these lines: "Dov`e Frate Martino? E scappato. E dov`e andato? E fuor dalla Porta al Prato." ("Where is Brother Martino? He went out. And where did he go? He is outside Porta al Prato"). Here; Botticelli is joking about one of the monks of the Umiliati order; running the church.
