Italy; Tuscany; Lucca: Royal Lodge at Teatro del Giglio. The Teatro del Giglio is one of the oldest public theatres in Italy and opened; in 1675; with the original name Teatro Pubblico (Public Theatre). Architects were Francesco Buonamici and Maria Giovanni Padreddio. From 1817 to 1819; it was renovated and extended by architect Lorenzo Nottolini and named "Teatro del Giglio" by Maria Luisa di Borbone; Duchess of Lucca. In 1831; it had it first global success with "Guglielmo Tell" (Wilhelm Tell) by Gioachino Rossini. Director was Niccolo Paganini. The theatre today is one of the stages of the annual Puccini Festival and of the Lucca Puccini Days.
