Chad. Ennedi rock art.The plateau of the Guirchi wadi; in the northeast of the Ennedi; is an immense sandy plain dotted with hundreds of rocks; rocky pillars; stone slabs and low formations of different shapes. Known as Niola Doa; this plain is rich in rock art; both engraved and painted. On the perfectly flat interior of a huge rock broken in two; four 2.50-metre-tall "dancers" perform a dazzling choreography from 3000 BC. An artist of exceptional talent has created this saharan masterpiece "the dancers of Niola Doa" who could symbolize a feminine divinity; linked to the fertility and to the pastoral life of the bovidian period; at a time when the Sahara was still green.
