Here; the mystical vision hovers in a burst of light and cloud before the enraptured priest. With one hand clutched dramatically to his chest; the other extends toward the viewer; almost as an invitation into the image. El Greco painted this canvas around 1605; just a few decades after Hyacinth was granted sainthood by Pope Clement VIII.; Overall: 62 3/8 x 38 7/8 in. (158.4 x 98.7 cm)
