By the 18th century; flagons also appeared in Christian churches; where they were used to pour wine into chalices during Communion. The function of this particular flagon鈥攚hether secular or sacred鈥攊s unclear; but the dog; fleur-de-lis; and crown motifs are ones that were historically related to both the French and German royal courts.; Overall: 9 1/8 x 5 x 7 1/4 in.
