Fiordland, New Zealnd - 25 February 2019; Doubtful Sound is a magnificent fjord of the appropriately named Fiordland, located on the west of New Zealand's South Island. It is close to the smaller but better known and - frankly - more spectacular Milford Sound. Like all fjords, it was carved by the action of glaciers in the ice ages and was then flooded by the sea when the glaciers retreated. Who knows, one day the glaciers may return? But not yet. Here we see it on a rare sunny day. Why rare? Because this is one of the rainiest areas on earth.
