Albert Calmette (1863-1933), French physician. Calmette developed the Bacillus Calmette?uerin (BCG) vaccine with Camille Guerin (1872-1961). The BCG vaccine is used to vaccinate against tuberculosis (TB), an infectious disease that mainly affects the lungs caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Calmette also developed anti-venom against snake bite. Photographed in April 1919.
