Farmer checking the soil condition of his crop of tomatoes. The tomatoes receive underground micro irrigation using a plastic tube buried below the ground that has holes to sweep water to roots of plants. Micro irrigation is an irrigation method that directly delivers water to the root zone of plants. It increases crop yield and reduces the use of water and fertilizers. Micro irrigation can be used as part of regenerative agriculture: farming practices and systems that aim to improve health of the soil and water as well as increase biodiversity. Photographed in Woodland, California, USA on 15th April 2015.
