Polarised light micrograph of a thick unstained ground section of part of the mandible showing the molar teeth. The colours are a result of imaging using circular polarised light. The enamel coverings have been significantly eroded suggesting long standing age-related wear. The crown tissue displays many colour tints representing variations of orientation of collagen and mineralized bone of dentine tissue. Magnification: x 3 when width printed at 10cm.
