Chamonix, France - 20 June 2013; No people in view. At an elevation of 4808m above sea level, Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in the Alps and Western Europe. On a global scale, howver, it's only the 12th highest. Up close and personal like this, though, it still seems plenty big... Here we see the cable car to the top, from the spiffy ski resort of Chamonix, located conveniently near the junction of France, Switzerland and Italy.
