Lake Titicaca, Peru - 17 May 2018; one old man in view. Taquile is an island on the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca. located some 45 km from the city of Puno. It is inhabited by around 2000 native Taquilenos, who have their own distinctive culture based around their fine handwoven textiles and clothing. This the main gate to the island, slogging uphill from the landing jetty. An old man with walking sticks is silhouetted as he passes through.
