San Cristobal in the Bolivian Altiplano - 24 May 2018: two people in shot. The Bolivian Altiplano is a harsh place. Mostly located above 4200m (14,000ft) in elevation, it is the largest high plateau on the planet after Tibet. High, dry, oxygen depleted and seared by UV radiation, it is not a comfortable place. But there are people here. In America, they would call San Cristobal a one-horse town; here in Bolivia, the horse appears to have run away!
