Leaving Tower Of Baskets Comes Tumbling Down -- A Covent Garden Market (London) porter can carry twelve baskets tower-style on his head indefinitely: it's the porters tradition. But in a race, it's a different matter, and even Albert Bailey of Highbury, London, basket race winner in the last event held in 1939, comes to a mishap. Occasion is rehearsal in Covent Garden today (Saturday) for the event to be held during the Covent Garden Market Show later this month. Between 20 and 30 contestants are entered from London's mix who lesale markets. With Bailey in photo are Edward White of Blackheath (left) and Johnny Hopkins of Finsbury Park. June 02, 1951.
