The Typist At The Trigger -- Miss Jessie Butts toady (Tuesday) leaves her desk in the Dagenham, Essex, offices of the Sterling Engineering Co. Ltd., to assist in a demonstration for the Press of the Sterling Sub-Machine Gun. The gun, which replaces the Sten Gun, has recently been adopted by the British Army as a supplementary weapon to the Belgian F.N. Rifle. It can be fired from hip, shoulder, or in emergency with one hand, in pistol fashion. Weighing only 6 lbs., it fires up to 575 rounds per minute, and is accurate and will kill at 200 yards. It will also kill at 500 yards, but no claim for accuracy is made at such a range. February 15, 1955. (Photo by Reuterphoto).
